His journey: Crossfit to Personal Training to OPEX Baltimore Personalized Fitness
When my wife and I joined OPEX Baltimore in June of 2015, I was 35 years old, at least 30 lbs overweight, and plagued by ankle and foot pain. It’s not much of an exaggeration to say that I hadn’t done any exercise since I was in the seventh grade. It’s also not much of an exaggeration to say that my work with Sean has been pretty life-altering; it’s not just that I had to learn how to do a back squat or swing a kettlebell from them, I’ve also learned that my body is more than a support system that shuffles me from bed to desk to couch to bed– that I can understand, and change, and improve how that system works. Most importantly, I now WANT to make these improvements (the me of ten, five, or even two years ago would be stunned to hear me talk like this).
I would never have reached this point without the patience, encouragement, and careful coaching OPEX Baltimore provides. The coaches are always incredibly supportive in the gym: providing correction, demonstrating a movement, or helping me strategize a demanding workout. Their knowledge and experience shines through in the workout design, and their humor and enthusiasm creates a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that has been a key part of my development.
OPEX counts a lot of amazing athletes among its members. I am not one of them, but it doesn’t matter. From the first day, when I slumped into the gym in a smelly old pair of New Balances, Sean has made me feel like I belong as an athlete, and has very hard to help me make the changes in myself I’ve seen over the last ten months. I still have a lot of work to do in terms of improving my fitness, but I have come a long, long way. I couldn’t have done it anywhere else.
We know that in order to help you achieve your fitness goals we need to provide support in 3 main areas: exercise, nutrition and lifestyle. The consult with your coach is the first step in the process of getting to know you, and showing you how we can help.
